Abstract

According to the increasing consumption of energy and unlimited use of fossil fuels, a great deal of concern creates about supplying energy that is the most important biological factor for survival in the future. Correct orientation of buildings and the optimal percentage of openings based on the location of geographical region, system of sun irradiance during cold and warm seasons of a year, necessity of heating the buildings in winter or providing cooling energy in summer and optimal lighting in a day can reduce energy consumption. In this paper, atwo-storey building in the city of Anzali had been simulated according to the geographical region in Design Builder Software 5.0.3.007 and optimal orientation and the percentage of windows on the wall had been investigated. The results of heating, cooling and lighting energy consumption were registered by placing the building at the angle of zero and rotating 10 degrees clockwise up to 360 degrees in each analysis and in the context of checking the optimal level of window from zero to 100 percent of the ratio of openings to the view. The analysis of this software showed that the level of the window was 50 percent at north and 60 percent at south. In examining the orientation of building for reducing energy consumption, with respect to the total energy diagram that was the average of heating, cooling and lighting energy represented the most optimal direction of buildings at north part.
