Abstract
Due to the Ever-increasing population growth, the demand for energy, water and food is also increasing. The ever-increasing population growth and energy demand puts a lot of pressure on natural energy reserves and causes them to decrease. During the production of agricultural products for food needs, the production of agricultural waste is increasing rapidly. This huge production of agricultural waste has many consequences. One of the most effective methods of managing this waste is anaerobic digestion and the production of clean and renewable biogas fuel, which can be a suitable alternative to fossil fuel. In this review research, the potential of biogas production from agricultural wastes, the potential of biogas in providing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission have been investigated. The results show that agricultural waste has the potential to produce biogas and energy consumption. Biogas produced from agricultural waste has the potential to produce 43.01 to 70% of consumed electricity. Providing energy consumption by biogas reduces the consumption of fossil fuels. Therefore, due to the reduction of fossil fuel consumption and proper waste management, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced in both the energy and agriculture sectors. By using biogas to providing energy consumption, the cost of energy production and consumption is reduced.
